Privacy Policy

Curio ("Curio," "we," "us," or "our") is operated by Tiny Studio LLC. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the Curio mobile application (the "App"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Curio, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect the following categories of information:

Account information: email address, name, and profile photo (if you sign in with Google or Apple).
Onboarding & preference data: the knowledge domains, reading depth, and reading-time preferences you select during onboarding or in Settings.
Usage & content data: the topics you ask Curio to generate articles about, the generated articles themselves, articles you save to your library, your reading history, and free-text topic suggestions you submit. Before generating an article, we automatically screen the requested topic against our content policy; topics that do not pass this screening are not generated, and may be logged together with the policy category they matched, for safety and policy-tuning purposes.
Credit & usage metering: we track how many articles you generate and their associated token/credit cost against your free or Pro allowance, so we can enforce usage limits and fairly meter Pro subscriptions.
Device & technical data: a push notification token and device platform (iOS or Android), used solely to deliver push notifications you opt into.
Purchase data: if you subscribe to Curio Pro, your subscription status, product/plan ID, and renewal date, managed through Apple/Google and our subscription management provider, RevenueCat (we do not receive or store your payment card details).

2. How We Use Your Information

To create and maintain your account.
To generate personalized articles and recommendations based on your stated topics and preferences.
To save your reading history and library so you can return to content across sessions and devices.
To operate, maintain, and improve the App, including diagnosing technical issues.
To manage subscriptions and entitlements, if you purchase Curio Pro.
To communicate with you about your account or material changes to our policies, if needed.

3. How Your Information Is Shared

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with service providers who help us operate the App, under appropriate confidentiality and data-processing terms:

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our legal rights, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you of any material change in how your data is handled.

4. Data Retention & Account Deletion

We retain your account information and content (library, reading history, preferences) for as long as your account is active.

When you delete your account, we permanently delete your authentication credentials, profile, preferences, articles, reading history, and saved library. To prevent abuse of free usage credits — for example, deleting and recreating an account to repeatedly claim free-tier credits — we retain a minimal "tombstone" record consisting of a one-way cryptographic hash of your email address and your prior free-credit usage. This tombstone record cannot be used to identify you, contains no profile, reading, or content data, and is used solely to apply your prior free-credit usage if the same email address is used to create a new account. All other account data is not retained after deletion, except where we are required to retain certain records by law.

5. Your Rights & Choices

Access & correction: you can view and update your profile and preferences directly in the App.
Deletion: you can delete your account from Settings in the App (where available) or by contacting us at the email below. See Section 4 for what is retained after deletion.
Export: you may request a copy of your data by contacting us.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing. Contact us to exercise these rights.

6. Children's Privacy

Curio is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Data Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption in transit and access controls via our infrastructure providers) to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. International Data Transfers

Our service providers may process and store data in the United States or other countries. By using Curio, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
